School Leadership - Academic Support Coordinator - Math

Why did you come to Louisiana Key Academy? I had just finished up a stint as a language and reading clinician and my best friend, Ms. Gilmore, had just begun teaching at LKA.  She suggested that I apply to be a substitute teacher.  The rest is history!
What's your favorite thing about teaching? It is a very rewarding experience to see all of the knowledge that you try to give to your class applied to their everyday lives.  When I can see that they’re getting something out of the material that I am teaching, it feels so rewarding!

What was your favorite subject in school? Language and History.  I like knowing about the world, writing, and challenging traditional ideas.

What's your favorite vacation spot? Anywhere that offers seclusion.  I've always been a city kid, and I like to be alone on vacation!

When I'm not at school, I like to...play video games! I'm definitely a 90s kid!

What's your perfect pizza? ALL THE MEAT!

What's your favorite book? Why? I love the novel 'Black Boy' by Richard Wright.  I feel like it woke me up, and it made me realize that there is a whole other world out there that's not as cushy and predictable as mine.

Who is your hero? My hero is my dad.  He's loving, successful, driven, intelligent, and an all around awesome dad!

What's the weirdest thing about you? I can live off of pepperoni hot pockets and ketchup (not together, though).

What's your favorite knock-knock joke?

Knock, Knock!
Who's There?
Britney Spears.
Britney Spears who?
Knock, Knock!
Who's There?
Oops... I did it again!
